Montco detectives handling investigation into police-involved shooting in Ambler Saturday night

Ambler Borough Police confirmed Saturday night that a suspect was shot and transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries following the officer-involved shooting  near Forest Avenue and School Street. 

The shooting occurred around 7:34 p.m. and involved a suicidal suspect armed with two knives, police said. 

The officer was not injured in the incident, police said. 

The Montgomery County Detective Bureau was notified and is handling the investigation per department protocol.
