Ambler-based Alpha & Omega Logistics was forced to shut down after its contract with Amazon was abruptly terminated on Jan. 10, according to the Philadelphia Business Journal.
In a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filing with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor, it said the closure was due to "unforeseeable business circumstances."
The company, which was founded in 2020, served as an independent delivery service for Amazon. According to business owner Peter Kyriakodis, the company’s contract was terminated for breach of contract for minor infractions such as seatbelt and horn malfunctions, according to the article. But Kyriakodis said that those infractions took place last year, before Amazon renewed the company’s contract in October.
The company employed 110 employees who are now affected by the closing.
Alpha & Omega Logistics was among the top 20% of Amazon’s delivery service partners, according to Kyriakodis.
