Whitpain Township announces schedule for leaf, yard waste collection

Items permitted in residential yard-waste collection include grass clippings placed in biodegradable paper bags; bundled shrubs, brush or plants

  • Community

Whitpain Township is reminding its residents that leaf and yard waste pickup dates are set.

Residents who live on the south side of Skippack Pike will have leaves and yard waste collected on Monday, March 24, and residents north of Skippack Pike will have leaves collected on Wednesday, March 26.

Leaves and yard waste must be placed in biodegradable paper bags and put out at the curb the evening before the scheduled collection. Whitpain is asking residents not to rake leaves to the curb and do not place leaf waste and branch trimmings in plastic bags or in trash can containers, or else they will not be collected.

J. P. Mascaro & Sons collects yard-waste from residential properties curbside. Items permitted in residential yard-waste collection include grass clippings placed in biodegradable paper bags; bundled shrubs, brush or plants, excluding dirt, and under 4 feet in length and bundled tree branches under 3 inches in diameter and under 4 feet in length. Residents are not allowed to use plastic bags.

Items excluded in residential yard waste collection:

  • Stones, dirt and sod
  • Trash
  • Recyclable materials
  • Bulk Items
  • Household hazardous waste
  • Construction and demolition waste
  • Other unacceptable waste defined by law

Special Holiday Collection

To better serve residents because of the Memorial Day holiday, Whitpain will be collecting yard waste a week earlier on Monday, May 19 and Wednesday, May 21.
