Winter offers lots of entertainment in Atlantic City

  • Jersey Shore

It's not just about summer concerts in Atlantic City. There are an array of shows slated for the shore throughout the winter.

Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty fame returns Saturday for his annual dead of winter Atlantic City performance at the Hard Rock. The singer-songwriter will deliver solo material, a couple of Matchbox Twenty hits and "Smooth," his Grammy-winning smash, recorded with the iconic Carlos Santana.

Method Man of Wu Tang Clan fame and Redman will co-headline Sunday at Boardwalk Hall for a night of '90s hip hop. Da Brat, Ja Rule and Lil Jon are also on the bill.

The unpredictable Martin Lawrence will deliver his observational comedy Jan. 25 at the Hard Rock.

Veteran jam band Umphrey's McGee will return the same evening to the Hard Rock's Sound Waves.

The venerable Blind Boys of Alabama, who formed in 1939, will deliver gospel tunes Feb. 1 at the Stockton Performing Arts Center.

One of the hottest shows of the season features Nikki Glaser, who has blown up after scoring rave reviews hosting the Golden Globes.

Glaser, who has been on an upward trajectory after effectively skewering Tom Brady during the hilarious 2024 roast of the Hall of Fame quarterback, will perform Feb. 1 at the Hard Rock. The $39 tickets are long gone but platinum seats are still available. Glaser is consistently amusing and unpredictable.

Yacht rockers unite Feb. 8 at the Borgata for the mellow sounds of the Little River Band.

The kings of one word top 10 hits, Kool and the Gang, who charted with such familiar cuts as "Celebration," "Cherish," "Joanna" and "Misled" return to Ocean Feb. 8.

Billy Gibbons — aka the bearded dude who fronts ZZ Top — will perform solo Feb. 8 at the Borgata. Expect some ZZ Top favorites and deep cuts. Gibbons also slips in some surprising covers ranging from old school blues to contemporary hip hop.

Long-of-tooth jam band Widespread Panic will perform Feb. 14 and 15 at the Hard Rock.

Clever comic Tom Papa will crack wise Feb. 14 and 15 at the Borgata.

Pop-rockers of the '90s Better Than Erza are slated for Feb. 21 at the Borgata.

Rod Stewart's swan song tour, which stops Feb. 22 at the Hard Rock, will be the toughest ticket of the month. The gig at the Etess Arena is one of the most intimate shows featuring the charismatic octogenarian, who recently announced a co-headlining gig with fellow superstar Billy Joel during the summer at Yankee Stadium. Expect a long evening of hits by the expressive and soulful Sir Roderick.

Soft rock veterans America celebrate their 55th year together with a hit laden tour that will stop March 7 at Ocean.

Smokey Robinson, who will perform March 8 at the Hard Rock, still sounds amazing at 85.

Clean living is the reason Robinson still possesses his velvety voice. The King of Motown will play such familiar tunes as "I Second That Emotion," "Being With You" and "You've Really Got a Hold on Me."

It's the 60th anniversary tour for Burton Cummings. The Guess Who singer-songwriter, who will perform March 14 at Ocean, crafted a plethora of hits, such as "These Eyes,'" "American Woman" and "No Sugar Tonight" for the Canadian band.

Expect big riffs and soulful melodies from Atlanta metal band Sevendust. The band is touring behind its latest album, "Truth Killer," which is comprised of nu-metal bangers.
