First responders were called out on Tuesday night due to a call for a car into a tree, according to county dispatch.
According to dispatch, area units were called around 10:32 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28 to the area of Hunt Seat Drive and Gypsy Hill Road in Lower Gwynedd Township for the call of an accident with injuries. Early reports noted that the vehicle appeared to be a darkly colored SUV and that it was "into a tree."
Those at the scene said that no one was in the vehicle upon their arrival, and police appeared to be searching the area of the accident. The passenger's side airbags were deployed on a dark-colored Jeep, though neither a driver nor passenger were visible, said responders to the scene.
In most vehicles on the road today, passenger airbags do not deploy unless there is a weighted object or person in the front, passenger's seat. Lower Gwynedd Police Chief Paul Kenny said that the incidents is "still being investigated."
"The driver was not at the scene when we arrived," said Kenny. "We hope to speak with [the suspected driver] today."
Responding to the scene were Lower Gwynedd Township Police, the Community Ambulance Association of Ambler, and Wissahickon Fire Company among other first responders.
More information on the incident will be published as it is made available.
