An investigation is currently underway following a deadly crash that occurred overnight Monday on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Montgomery County, according to local authorities.
Officials report that the crash took place shortly after midnight along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 276, near the Mid-County Interchange and the Fort Washington exits. The circumstances leading up to the crash have not yet been disclosed, and it remains unclear how many vehicles were involved or whether weather or road conditions played a role.
As a result of the accident, the left lanes heading eastbound were shut down for several hours, causing delays and detours for early morning commuters. Crews remained on scene through the early morning hours to investigate, clear debris, and restore safe travel conditions.
