A 67-year-old Ambler resident with a prior criminal record has been sentenced to jail after being convicted of indecent assault involving a 17-year-old girl, according to a report.
Rudolph Dukes, of the 400 block of Railroad Avenue, received a sentence of 9 to 23 months in the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. The conviction stems from an incident that occurred in April 2023 in Ambler. Dukes pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of indecent assault.
Judge William R. Carpenter, who presided over the case, also imposed a consecutive probation term of three years, placing Dukes under court supervision for approximately five years following his release.
Local authorities alleged Dukes, then 65, touched the intimate parts of a 17-year-old girl’s body while she was in his company at an Ambler residence on April 29, 2023.
“He then told her not to tell anyone and asked her if she was going to ‘Keep it between us?’” Ambler Detective Erik M. Iochum wrote in a criminal complaint.
“This is a serious offense. It’s a terrible thing to do,” Carpenter said during sentencing, noting Dukes’ apparent lack of remorse and the potential for future offenses.
Dukes previously served time more than a decade ago following a conviction related to inappropriate communications with a minor.
