Don’t be alarmed if you see police officers and firefighters in your neighborhood, it is part of a scheduled training exercise and not an emergency.
The Whitpain Township Police Department and the Centre Square Fire Company have announced they will be conducting a joint training exercise to enhance emergency response readiness and coordination.
This training is scheduled to take place on Monday, July 28, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and will be located in and around the following areas:
Arementrout Preserve
Beale Road
Miles Drive
During this two-hour period, residents may observe an increased presence of emergency personnel in the vicinity. This may include police officers and firefighters walking through neighborhoods and wooded areas, particularly the Arementrout Preserve, as part of various response scenarios.
Personnel will be clearly identifiable, wearing high-visibility safety vests and carrying equipment. Officials want residents to be assured that if you see these personnel, they are part of a routine, pre-planned training drill, and there is no cause for concern.
The exercise is designed to simulate real-life emergency situations in a controlled and safe manner, allowing first responders to practice their skills and improve community preparedness.
We want to emphasize that this training will not interfere with normal residential activity, and no road closures or service disruptions are expected. Residents are encouraged to go about their usual evening routines, though you may notice emergency vehicles parked nearby or uniformed personnel on foot in the area.
"You may see first responders in safety vests during this time — no need for concern, it's just a drill," the Whitpain Township Police Department wrote. "We appreciate your cooperation as our teams train to keep our community safe."
For any non-emergency questions or concerns related to the training, please contact the Whitpain Township Police Department.
