Sen, Maria Collett (D-12 Montgomery), State Rep. Steve Malagari (D-53 Montgomery), and Rep. Melissa Cerrato (D-151 Montgomery) announced a $173,685 investment that will provide critical resources for Senior Community Centers (SCC) in their districts.
This funding is part of a larger $3 million statewide investment through the Department of Aging that includes $2 million in competitive grants and an additional $1 million in non-competitive grants that Governor Shapiro and the General Assembly secured in the 2024-25 state budget.
“Pennsylvania’s senior centers are essential hubs for resources and connection, reducing social isolation among older adults. I saw firsthand how my late father discovered new hobbies and friendship at our Senior Adult Activities Center in Ambler,” said Senator Collett, Democratic Chair for the Senate Aging and Youth Committee. “I am thrilled to support these needed investments in the programming, facilities, and services our bustling senior centers provide.”
Rep. Malagari added: “With this new funding for our senior centers, we’re not just improving services — we’re reaffirming our commitment to the people who paved the way for us. These centers provide vital services like meals, health programs, and social connection that help our seniors stay healthy, engaged, and supported in their daily lives.”

“Before taking office, I worked as a caregiver and elder assistant, so supporting projects that uplift our community’s seniors is deeply personal to me. I’ve seen firsthand how these centers enrich the lives of older adults – promoting well-being, independence and a strong sense of purpose,” Rep. Cerrato said. “I am always happy to support efforts that make Montgomery County a place where every resident can enjoy their golden years with dignity, respect and a sense of community.”
