Upper Dublin High School's baseball team made school history on Thursday, June 12, capturing its first-ever PIAA Class 5A state championship with a commanding 8–2 victory over Shaler Area at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park at Penn State University.

The win is monumental for the Upper Dublin Cardinals. While other sports have experienced recent success on the courts and fields, Upper Dublin's baseball team had never reached these heights until now.

Freshman pitcher Luke Caron showed maturity beyond his years as he pitched a complete game, allowing just five hits and two runs while striking out five batters. His composure under pressure helped shut down a potent Shaler offense that had scored 26 runs in its previous three state playoff games.

Upper Dublin’s lineup was relentless, with contributions from up and down the order. Their hitters strung together rallies in the second and third innings to build an early lead. Timely hitting, effective small ball, and aggressive base running turned routine singles into scoring chances.

Max Berner contributed with multiple hits and RBIs, Ryan Klingerman chipped in a key RBI double to open the scoring, and Nate Sargent had a clutch middle-inning RBI to widen the lead.

Head coach Ed Wall, in his 11th season, has steadily turned the program into a contender, and this win is the culmination of that vision.

“This group never quit," Wall said. "We knew we had something special, and today they proved it to the entire state. I couldn't be prouder.”
