Drivers in the area will notice that their commute on Route 202 may look a little different.
PennDOT has announced a traffic shift on Route 202 beginning June 24 as part of the Route 202 project.
Starting at 9 a.m. on June 24 through December 1, northbound and southbound traffic on Route 202 will be redirected onto newly constructed southbound lanes between Jefferson Crossing Boulevard and Johnson Highway in East Norriton.
This realignment is a result of PennDOT’s effort to widen U.S. 202 from two lanes to three, including a center turn lane, between Johnson Highway and Township Line Road.
Key upgrades include the installation of five-foot bicycle lanes, sidewalks, drainage improvements, new signals, and pavement markings. The project also involves reconstructing a bridge and culvert, building sound and retaining walls, and integrating Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) for improved traffic flow.
The 202 Widening Project is exclusively managed by PennDOT and its contractor.
