As parts of Montgomery County are still struggling to get power back from the effects of the weekend storms, some residents are beginning the clean-up process.
Some residents, however, will have some more patch work to do than others.
For Whitpain Township resident Steve Chang, he considers himself both lucky and unlucky after the storm brought down a tree on his car and his family as they were about to take a weekend getaway with their children to their grandparents’ house.
In the area of Wentz and Jolly Road just before 5 p.m., a large tree snapped at the stump and toppled on top of Chang’s car, with his children inside.
“It actually happened before the rain started,” said Chang in an interview with NBC 10. “It was just a gust of wind that blew it over. The storm wasn’t even here yet. Lukcy and unlucky. I would have preferred if it didn’t happen, but everyone is okay.”
Officials were forced to close many area roads due to downed trees and debris from the storm in roads. Some areas experienced pole fires, and some police departments have had trouble with phone service. Wide spread power outages are still present in some Montgomery County areas as well.
Officials are advising residents that if you lose power, to contact your power provider, not your local police department.
