After a rainy forecast forced the cancelation of the first installment of the Lower Gwynedd Summer Concert Series in May, local officials and residents are now ready to rock and roll.
The "first official" concert will take place on Wednesday, June 25, at Pen Ambler Park, 351 Mathers Road, Lower Gwynedd Township, with music from Kate Mills, food from Taquerias Dos Hermanos, and adult beverages from Boardroom Spirits.
The food truck will be available from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The musical guests will perform in an hour-long block from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
A face painter will also be on hand for kid's entertainment. Children can get their faces painted in a fun design from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Mills is a local artist who was raised in Bucks County near Philadelphia and originally trained in musical theater (she debuted at age 9). She earned a Master’s in Social Work at the University of Pennsylvania, then pursued her true calling as a musician
She has performed at festival circuits, including Montauk Music Festival, Ladybug, NJ Folk Festival, Musikfest (Bethlehem), and ASCAP’s “I Create Music” conference.
She openly addresses personal struggles, including living with ulcerative colitis, in her work, and, according to an interview, her creative ideas often start from lyrics or titles that reflect personal introspection, and marinate over time before becoming fully formed songs.
