Whitpain Township to discuss Wissahickon Park Improvements Project at Tuesday night's meeting

Contracts for the first phase of construction are on the agenda to be approved

The Whitpain Township Board of Supervisors’ meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 4, will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Wissahickon Valley Boys & Girls Club, 240 Maple Ave., Ambler.

Prior to the meeting, the community is also invited to attend an open house related to the upcoming construction of Wissahickon Park. The open house will begin at 5:15 p.m. on March 4 at the Wissahickon Valley Boys & Girls Club (the Board of Supervisors’ meeting will follow).

Items to be discussed in regards to park construction include motions to award contracts for: 

  • Phase 1 Wissahickon Park Improvements project for General Construction to MECO Constructors, Inc. of Bensalem in the low bid amount of $2,294,000. 
  • Motion to award the contract for Phase 1 Wissahickon Park Improvements project for Electrical Construction to Wise Electrical Contractors, LLC of Glenside in the low bid amount of $310,000. 
  • Motion to appoint Heather Dougherty, Ed.D., Coordinator of Dance at Montgomery County Community College, for a one-year term to the Arts and Culture Commission with a term expiring December 31, 2025.


According to a plan created in 2022, the new park will feature amenities like new basketball courts, pickleball courts, school-aged playground areas, a game plaza (for bocce ball, ping pong, etc.), a pavilion with built-in grills, improved sidewalks and crosswalks, and much more.
