When a building is engulfed in flames and danger is imminent, some people run toward the danger instead of away from it. Without a second thought, they enter the smoke-filled chaos with one goal in mind: to save a life.
These everyday heroes, motivated by compassion and a sense of duty, face overwhelming odds, knowing that their actions can make the difference between life and death. Their courage isn’t about seeking recognition, but about doing what’s right when it matters most.
Ambler Police Department's Officer Brian Ly and Borough of Ambler Fire Marshall Richard Lockhart exemplified these traits when they disregarded their own safety by running into a burning home to save the life of another resident.
At a Borough of Ambler meeting earlier this month, Chief Jeff Borkowski presented both an commendation, honoring them for their brave service.
"Ambler Borough continues to prove that they care," The Ambler Borough Police Department wrote. "Thank you to Officer Brian Ly and Fire Marshall Richard Lockhart for their heroic act of running into a burning home and saving a life."
