Officials are investigating an incident in which a swastika and racist graffiti were recently found in school bathroom in Montgomery County.

Plymouth Whitemarsh High School officials issued a letter to families of the district explaining that they are working with the Whitemarsh Township Police Department to investigate an act of vandalism inside the school.

"The graffiti included a swastika and racial epithets," school officials shared in the letter. "The teacher informed security and administration about the issue and steps were taken to immediately remove the message."

A student reported that he saw the graffiti inside the bathroom on Wednesday, March 26.

"This incident will not shake our commitment to promoting a culture of belonging in our schools, and we are grateful for the community’s support of our efforts," school officials said. "Hate has no home here in Colonial School District."

This is the second incident this month of antisemitic and racist vandalism at a Montgomery County school.

On Saturday March 8 at 11:50 p.m., two subjects in a red sedan entered the parking lot of the Upper Moreland Elementary School from Byberry Road and made their way to the back of the school. They then used spray paint to "tag" the building and playground equipment with swastikas and other vulgar words and drawings.

Police apprehended an 18-year-old Upper Moreland resident about a week later, who was arraigned on charges that include multiple counts of institutional vandalism, criminal mischief, defiant trespass, simple trespass and possession of an instrument of crime.
