Flying Mohawk co-owner Jayson Werth answered questions from anyone after the Kentucky Derby draw Saturday April 26, 2025 at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.
"As far as life goes right now, it’s just weed and horses," ex-Phillies star Jayson Werth said in a recent interview.
Werth will be at Churchill Downs on Saturday for the 151st running of the Kentucky Derby. He's the co-owner of a horse named Flying Mohawk, a 27-1 underdog in the race at one popular sportsbook as of Saturday morning.

This is the second time a Werth-owned horse will participate in the Run for the Roses. Last year, Werth owned a 10% stake in Dornoch, a now-retired colt who placed tenth in the race. Dornoch bounced back a month later to win the Belmont Stakes.
"I know what I’m getting myself into this time," said Werth. “Dornoch, I love that dude . . . He laid the blueprint down, and now we know what we’re doing. We know a lot more about the sport. It’s pretty cool to get another chance at a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."
Werth owns 50% of Flying Mohawk through his personal stable, Two Eight Racing. (Yes, it's a reference to the jersey number Werth wore for most of his career.) The 2008 World F**king Champion has embraced horse racing in a big way in his life after baseball.

But horse racing isn't Werth's only non-baseball passion. He's also involved with Wyvern Botanicals, which aims to build a high-volume indoor marijuana garden.
