Barbara Williamson, 36, of Levittown, faces a felony charge stemming from a traffic stop in Whitemarsh Township, according to police.
On Sunday, May 4 at 3 p.m., a police officer from the Whitemarsh Township Police Department received information about a reckless driver in a black Land Rover, driving on Bethlehem Pike traveling south toward Church Road. The vehicle was swerving into traffic almost completely in the opposite lane, according to police.
A short time later, a police officer observed the black Landrover on Redcoat Drive slanted in the middle of the median with its four-way flashers on. The officer conducted a traffic stop and the driver, later identified as Williamson, appeared to have constricted eyes, was disheveled and in distress, according to police. Williamson also appeared nervous and would not make eye contact with the officer, according to police.
Police officers asked Williamson to step out of the vehicle for field sobriety tests. When Williamson stepped out of the car, she reached into her pocket, at which point police officers requested her to remove her hands, according to police. When she removed her hand from her pocket, six green pills fell on to the ground.
During a walk and turn field sobriety test, Williamson failed to keep her balance, did not follow instructions, stopped walking, missed heel to toe, stepped off the line, used her arms for balance, and made an improper turn, according to police.
During a one-leg stand test, she messed up her counting multiple times, according to police.
Due to the failed sobriety tests, police officers placed Williamson under arrest. During a search, police officers recovered additional narcotics, including a total of 28 green pills labeled “S903,” one dark blue pill labeled "B707", one light blue diamond shaped pill labeled "S," one open blue wax paper, and another blue wax paper labeled “Blue Magic” in a small plastic bag.
Additional blue wax paper labeled “Blue Magic” was found during a vehicle search, according to police.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
