Montgomery County hosts spring events at Green Lane Park

Three educational programs highlight creativity, wildlife, and conservation

Montgomery County invites residents and visitors to engage with nature this May through three educational programs that highlight creativity, wildlife, and conservation. 

Natural Tie-Dye Workshop at Pennypacker Mills 

Saturday, May 10 at 1:00 PM

Learn how to create vibrant, natural dyes using plants during this interactive workshop led by Park Rangers. Participants can bring their own white, natural fiber (cotton) items to dye or use a provided bandana. Discover the origins of tie-dyeing and explore plant-based color creation.

Cost: $5 per person for dyeing material

Location: Pennypacker Mills Classroom, 5 Haldeman Road, Schwenksville.

Ages: 16 & older

Earlybird Walk at Green Lane Park 

Saturday, May 17 at 8:00 AM

Celebrate peak spring migration with a peaceful 2-mile walk through the park in search of warblers, vireos, flycatchers, and other migrating birds. This guided walk is perfect for beginner and experienced birders alike. Bring binoculars and dress for the outdoors. 

Cost: Free

Location: Green Lane Park - Park Office, 2144 Snyder Rd, Green Lane.

Ages: 12 & older

Leave No Trace at Green Lane Park 

Saturday, May 31 at 1:00 PM

What really happens to that banana peel tossed in the woods or a forgotten tissue in the rain? Ranger Rotenberger will show visitors experimental trash simulations to discover the details of how litter breaks down. Explore ways to become more eco-friendly and the easiest ways in which you can practice the "Leave No Trace" method

Cost: Free

Location: Green Lane Park - Stone Lodge, 2144 Snyder Road, Green Lane.

Ages: 12 & older
