As the warmer turns warmer, the Summer Concert and Movie Series in Whitpain Township is quickly approaching.

About one month away, the Concert and Movie Series will begin on June 17 at Wentz Run Park and Mermaid Park for free family fun. Whitpain Township event organizers recently finalized the plans with band lists, locations, confirmed food trucks, and the all-new beer garden that will accompany that event.

Movies will be featured in select Tuesdays while the concerts will run on Thursdays. The series with the Transformers One movie being shown on June 17, followed by the Amish Outlaws concert at Mermaid Park on June 26.

New to each concert series this summer is the addition of the beer garden featuring Well Crafted Beer Company. Last year Whitpain Township amended an ordinance to allow beer gardens on location at these type of events. Well Crafted will now be on hand for each of the four scheduled events.

“The beer gardens will be new to every concert now,” said Malcolm Smith, Assistant Director of Whitpain Township Parks and Recreation. “It was tested out last year at one of the events and went well.

“We will have time before the show to for residents to visit vendors from around 4 to 6:30 p.m. with the concerts starting at 7. Amish Outlaws kicks off the summer with a huge crowd and energy, we're looking forward to carrying that excitement through the rest of the summer series.”
