Major changes coming to parking in Ambler: What every driver needs to know before May 31

The Ambler Police Department is informing residents, commuters, and visitors of important updates to the Borough’s public parking system as Ambler transitions to a new parking management platform.

After nearly a decade of service, the Borough’s current Flowbird parking kiosks and mobile payment app are being retired and replaced with updated technology designed to simplify parking and improve the user experience throughout Ambler.

As part of this transition, new T2 Systems parking kiosks are now being installed in Lots 1, 2, and 3, bringing several significant procedural changes that all drivers should be aware of.

One of the biggest changes is the Borough’s transition from the previous “Pay by Space” system to a new “Pay by Plate” process.

Drivers will no longer need to remember or enter a parking space number when paying for parking. Instead, motorists will simply enter their vehicle’s license plate number when using a kiosk or mobile payment option.

This updated procedure is intended to make parking faster, easier, and more convenient for daily users.

The former Flowbird mobile app is being replaced with T2 Mobile Pay, a text-based parking payment system that does not require downloading an app.

The new system automatically recognizes Ambler’s designated free parking periods from:

  • 7:00 a.m. to 7:59 a.m.
  • 12:00 p.m. to 1:59 p.m.

During those hours, drivers may still register a parking session, but they will not be charged. If payment is accidentally made during a free parking period, the payment will automatically apply to the next metered session.

In addition, users will now receive a text notification when 15 minutes remain on their parking session, allowing them to extend parking time directly from their phone.

The Borough is also replacing existing Flowbird kiosks with new T2 Cosmo kiosks.

The upgraded kiosks will accept:

  • Coins
  • Tap-to-pay credit and debit cards
  • Digital wallet payments including:
  • Apple Pay
  • Google Pay
  • Android digital wallet payments

The Flowbird mobile app will no longer function in Ambler after May 31, 2026. Residents and visitors are encouraged to begin using the new system immediately to avoid parking payment issues or violations.

The Ambler Police Department appreciates the community’s patience during this transition and encourages all motorists to familiarize themselves with the updated parking procedures.
