Man accused of inappropriate relationship with Whitpain Township minor extradited to Montgomery County

A Texas man accused of targeting a local minor online has been arrested and extradited to Montgomery County, authorities announced.

Mitchell Van Dusen, 31, of Magnolia, Texas, is facing multiple felony charges, including unlawful contact with a minor, human trafficking of a minor, and sexual abuse of children.

The case began on July 17, 2025, when Whitpain Township Police were alerted to a possible online predator after a local juvenile received a suspicious Amazon package containing inappropriate items. Investigators say the victim told detectives she had been communicating with an older man online who sent the package.

According to police, the two first connected on July 4, 2025, in an online chat room. The relationship allegedly became sexual, with Van Dusen sending money in exchange for explicit images, even after the victim disclosed she was underage.

A forensic examination of the victim’s cellphone uncovered multiple explicit photos and videos, leading to further investigation.

Earlier this month, Whitpain Township and Montgomery County detectives traveled to Texas to assist in executing a search warrant at Van Dusen’s home. He was taken into custody and later extradited to Pennsylvania.

Van Dusen arrived in Montgomery County on April 24, 2026, and was arraigned the same day. His bail was initially set at $50,000 with conditions including no contact with minors and no use of smart devices. After a bail review hearing on April 27, a judge increased bail to $500,000 cash.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 30.

The case is being prosecuted by the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.
