Upper Dublin receives $1.23 million for construction upgrades, improvements

Residents of Upper Dublin Township will soon see major improvements along Pennsylvania Avenue after the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced that the township has been awarded $1,228,212 through the Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside (TASA) program.
The funding is part of a statewide investment of more than $74 million supporting 72 transportation improvement projects in 38 counties across Pennsylvania. The grants are financed through the Federal Highway Administration’s Surface Transportation Block Grant Program and are designed to make communities safer and more accessible for pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit users.
In Upper Dublin, the project will focus on a key stretch of Pennsylvania Avenue and include several upgrades aimed at improving safety and connectivity for residents, students, and commuters. Planned improvements include a traffic signal upgrade with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) ramps at Bridge Street, installation of missing trail and sidewalk segments, and construction of two new mid-block crossings with ADA-compliant ramps.
The project will also involve a reconfiguration of travel lanes to enhance safety for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians alike.
Township officials and residents have long identified Pennsylvania Avenue as an important corridor connecting neighborhoods, schools, parks, and local businesses. The new infrastructure is expected to close gaps in the existing pedestrian and bicycle network and make it easier for residents to travel through the area without relying solely on cars.
“Whether it’s a walk to school or a ride to the office, how you get there is the most critical part of any trip,” said Mike Carroll, secretary of PennDOT. “Thanks to this investment, communities around the Commonwealth are creating and improving options for pedestrians, cyclists and transit users.”
Construction timelines for the Upper Dublin project have not yet been announced, but residents can expect additional details as PennDOT and township officials move forward with design and implementation.
The Pennsylvania Avenue improvements are expected to provide safer crossings, better sidewalk access, and stronger connections for pedestrians and bicyclists throughout Upper Dublin, supporting the township’s ongoing efforts to create a more walkable and accessible community.
