Job openings announced at Wissahickon School District

The Wissahickon School District is currently hiring for new positions as it looks to strengthen both its athletic programs and district operations.

Flag Football Assistant Coach

At Wissahickon High School, the district is seeking a part-time assistant coach for the girls flag football program. District officials say the position is open immediately and is intended for candidates with prior high school coaching experience. Applications for the coaching position are being accepted through Jan. 30.

Custodian

In addition to the athletic opening, the district is also hiring a full-time evening custodian to work district-wide. The position runs from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. and is classified as a Class 5 custodial role. The starting pay is $27.04 per hour, and the position is open immediately, with applications due by Jan. 28.

According to the district, the custodian will be responsible for general maintenance and operation of school buildings and grounds, including cleaning classrooms and common areas, handling minor repairs, assisting with school events, and performing security checks. Custodians are also considered emergency personnel and may be called upon during urgent situations involving school facilities.

Candidates for the custodial position must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be able to follow written and verbal instructions, work independently and as part of a team, and perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, climbing stairs and ladders, and working both indoors and outdoors.

Special Education

The Wissahickon School District is seeking a full-time elementary special education teacher to support students in learning and emotional support programs. The position focuses on planning and delivering instruction that meets the individual needs of students with disabilities by adapting curriculum, developing lesson plans, and creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment aligned with district goals and Pennsylvania Core Standards.

The teacher will collaborate closely with families, administrators, and support staff to assess student progress, develop and implement Individualized Education Programs, manage student behavior, and participate in required meetings and professional development. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree and a valid Pennsylvania special education instructional teaching certificate, along with strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. The district notes that the role may include supervising paraprofessionals, maintaining required documentation, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
