Wissahickon School District appoints new Lower Gwynedd Elementary principal
Wissahickon School District has named Dr. Miesja M. Cubito as the next principal of Lower Gwynedd Elementary School.
The appointment was approved at the School Board’s Feb. 2 meeting, and Dr. Cubito will officially begin her role on April 6, 2026.
“I am honored to be chosen as the new principal of Lower Gwynedd Elementary School and am excited to join the Wissahickon community!” Dr. Cubito said.
She brings more than 20 years of experience in education and is currently in her sixth year as a principal. Over the course of her career, Dr. Cubito has also served as an assistant principal, technology leader, and district-level collaborator in the Interboro and Springfield school districts. In addition, she has taught graduate-level courses in educational leadership as an adjunct professor at Neumann University and Cabrini College.
Dr. Cubito holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Neumann University, along with master’s degrees from Drexel University and Saint Joseph’s University, and a bachelor’s degree from Temple University.
Superintendent Dr. Mwenyewe Dawan said Dr. Cubito’s leadership style and experience align closely with what the Lower Gwynedd Elementary community identified as priorities for its next principal, noting her collaborative approach and strong commitment to equity and inclusion.
